Is anyone given preference in the enrollment process and lottery?
Ivy Preparatory Academy gives enrollment priority to the following category of applicants and in the following order:
A sibling of a scholar currently enrolled at Ivy Preparatory Academy.
A student whose parent or guardian is a member of the governing board of Ivy Preparatory Academy or is a full-time teacher, professional, or other employees of Ivy Preparatory Academy.
What if I made an error on my application and/or entered the wrong preference information for my child?
During the application window, please contact the Admissions Office at 404-622-2727 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you believe you made an error on your child’s application. After the lottery occurs, if the wrong preference information was entered, the child will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist for her respective lottery.
How will I learn the results of the lottery and know if my student has been granted a seat?
The 2020-2021 lottery will be conducted electronically via Lotterease and held onsite at Ivy Preparatory Academy on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at 11:30 AM. Ivy Preparatory Academy offers of enrollment to families selected by lottery are made in writing via email within 3 business days post lottery. The lottery results will be posted to the Ivy Preparatory Academy website by Friday, March 20, 2020. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that Ivy Preparatory Academy has the most updated contact information (phone, mailing address, and email address) for notification purposes.
Parents are required to accept or decline the offer of enrollment in writing by email within 7 days of receiving notice of enrollment offer. In the event that an offer of enrollment is not accepted or declined, the expired application will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist. All applicable deadlines will be communicated to parents throughout the entire enrollment/lottery process.
What happens once I am notified that my child(ren) has been granted an available seat?
All students who have been granted an available seat must complete and return registration forms with valid supporting documents by the registration deadline, or their seat will be forfeited.
Will my student have to participate in the lottery each year?
No. Once officially enrolled, all Ivy Preparatory Academy scholars will remain enrolled for future years.
Whom can I contact to discuss questions related to enrollment or to receive assistance with enrollment?
For admissions and enrollment questions, please contact the Admissions Office at email@example.com or (404) 622-2727
Additional Lottery Information
There were seats available in each grade level for the 2020 lottery at Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood. Seat availability was determined by the number of seats that were vacated by previous families and/or adding additional classes in a given grade level.
The drawing was conducted using Lotterease. Per the terms of Ivy Prep’s charter, lottery preference is given first to siblings of currently enrolled Ivy Prep scholars as well as children of Ivy Prep employees. A lottery participant with a sibling who was admitted during the lottery process will be moved to the top of the Wait List in her respective grade.
Note: Ivy Prep Kirkwood’s attendance zone is for families eligible for Atlanta Public Schools and DeKalb County Schools. Applications submitted by families eligible for any other school district will not be considered in the lottery.
Seal of Transparency
What is the Lotterease Seal of Transparency and Fairness?
When you see the Seal on a school website, you can be confident that your application will be included in the school lottery in a fair and transparent way.
That is because Lotterease is an independent automated lottery system that the school uses to manage its lottery waitlist. Since Lotterease is an independent system, the school staff do not have the ability to manipulate or adjust the lottery outcome. They must work within the requirements of the system.
In addition, all activity that takes place with your application is tracked in a history log that you can view at any time by logging into the parent portal.
If the school you want your child to attend displays the Lotterease Seal of Transparency and Fairness, you can rest assured that your child will get their fair chance to attend the school.
7th Grade Parent
“My daughter attends IPA and what I love most about the school is how much her teachers care about her success. Sometimes when she loses motivation, there is always a teacher who encourages her and reminds her of her abilities. Unlike her large school in Gwinnett, her teachers at IPA do not accept failure or low expectations of their students. My daughter is not just another student at IPA. Her teachers know who she is as a person and that makes me as a parent feel like she is in the right place!”
3rd Grade Parent
“I am thoroughly happy and very satisfied with this school. My daughter is learning far beyond the normal GC curriculum. She feels very safe at school and looks forward to going each and everyday. I love how you can be a part of your child’s education as well as, being encouraged to volunteer at events. Ivy Prep gives you a top notch private school type of education for FREE!!!! The environment is small and your child is known by her name. You are doing your daughter an injustice by NOT sending her to this school. Ivy Prep offers an amazing learning environment like no other.”
First Year Parent
My daughter loves IPA and so do I. This is her first year here, and I must say that I am pleased. I took a gamble pulling her from her previous school, but I have found a school where she is loved for who she is yet pushed to be a better her. I love, love, love her teacher!
